<p>Originally published in 1983 <em>Urban France</em> examines the rapid growth in French cities between 1950-1980 and the serious consequences that have followed this rapid growth. This volume examines the nature of this urban explosion and the efforts of planners and others to find solutions to the resultant problems of the post-war period. The book addresses the debates surrounding the urban system urban planning housing and land use retailing and the inception of new towns. </p>
