<p>First published in 1968 the central aim of this work is to examine the major problems of development confronting contemporary tropical countries. Adopting an interdisciplinary approach the book examines the significance of natural and human resources in development planning in tropical countries; the effects of social and political institutions; the problems of aid and trade; markets and transport; and problems of agriculture and industry.</p>
