Contested Belonging

This text deals with the modern predicament of the Rabha of Kocha people - traditional shifting cultivators - their survival in the forest and their quest for identity. It describes their ways of coping with the colonial regime of scientific forestry the depletion of the forest and current concerns for wilderness and wildlife restoration and preservation.
