Introduction to Particle Physics and the Standard Model

<p>This text gives readers a grounding in particle physics including its experimental tools and methods. Wherever possible the author takes a historical approach that shows how the model is linked to the physics that most of us have learned in less challenging areas. The text describes the standard model and the theories of the strong and electroweak interactions. The author also introduces Feynman diagrams wave equations and gauge invariance building up to the theory of quantum electrodynamics. In addition he explores what might lie beyond our current concepts of the subatomic world. </p>
